Culldoo downs stablemate Mai late on Culldoo knuckled down gamely late on to grab stablemate Kimi De Mai and make a winning debut over jumps in the Kelly Hearing Specialists Mares Maiden Hurdle at Roscommon. Kimi De Mai went to post 2/1 joint-favourite and looked set for victory when asserting before the final flight. She was chased down late on by the other Willie Mullins-trained runner Culldoo though, who prevailed at the line by a head. The 9/2 winner had been placed in two bumpers before making her hurdling debut today. Winning rider Danny Mullins said afterwards:- “It was a good performance. It’s difficult to come and do that on her first run over hurdles. “It was a good, tough, performance and she saw out the trip well. She might be at her best over a bit of a trip. “She’s very tough in fairness to her. The other mare, that was second, would have a lot more experience. You’d hope my one can keep progressing.”
