Cumani Camp Thrilled With Moon

It is all systems go for the Emirates Airline Melbourne Cup for Purple Moon following his eyecatching effort in the Caulfield Cup.

The Ebor winner encountered trouble in running on Saturday but finished strongly under Kerrin McEvoy to take sixth place behind Master O'Reilly.

'He came out of the race in good form and has eaten up well ? his legs feel good,' said Luca Cumani's daughter, Francesca.

'Kerrin found himself in a position in which he encountered trouble all the way round.

'When he got clear he absolutely flew home, which was a good indication he's got the turn of foot that's needed out here.

'Hopefully it was a good trial ? I think the race will have brought him on.

'He needed that race to give him that edge of fitness,' she told At The Races.

Purple Moon is a best-priced 6-1 for the Melbourne Cup at Flemington on November 6.
