Diminutive mare Sallap (15/2) took the first division of the Munster Suite @ Limerick Races Handicap Hurdle, over an extended two miles, six furlongs.

Building on last month's win at Clonmel, owner/breeder Willie Cleary's daughter of Court Cave was produced to lead by Michael Kenneally between the final two flights and went away to beat Smallcraftwarning #160;by two and three-quarter lengths.

Winning trainer Sam Curling said "She is very small but is a right little mare. She is very tough, that's three wins and she was going to win before falling in Thurles last winter too. That was a heavy fall, but she was very tough to come back from that.

"The handicapper will catch up with her, but hopefully she might win another one."

Regarding his Leading Handler championship success in the latest point-to-point season, he added "It was brilliant for the whole team at home. We had a massive season and there were only two weekends when we didn't have a winner.

"Derek (O'Connor) is riding brilliantly and he probably got us over the line as much as anything. We had 70 to 80 horses in at the height of last winter and are down to 20 for the summer, but have plenty of stores to break now.

"A lot of ours were sold recently and we'll see how we go again next season."
