Curragh goes ahead Following a dry night, the Curragh passed an early morning inspection and is fit for racing today. It's set to be mainly dry through racing this afternoon and the Middle track will be in use. The first of eight races gets under way at 12.20pm. The forecast ahead of racing at the Curragh on Sunday is for further heavy rain beginning this evening with the possibility of 30-40mm according to Met Éireann. The situation will be monitored over the coming days and the racing line for Sunday will be decided later in the week. The situation is also being monitored at Thurles as Storm Ciaran is set to be active from Wednesday into race day on Thursday with heavy rain (20-30mm approx) and strong winds. Following 1mm of rain overnight, the ground is currently Soft (Hurdle) and Yielding to Soft (Chase). Down Royal is Soft, Soft to Heavy in places after 17mm of rain. A further 30mm (approx) is possible before racing on Friday
