Curtain Down On Tiutchev´s Career

Tiutchev, a four-time Grade One winner, has been retired after disappointing at Aintree last week.

Trainer Martin Pipe and owners the Liars Poker Partnership decided to call time on the 12-year-old´s career after he was pulled up in the Betfair Bowl.

Tiutchev enjoyed most of his big-race success for the Nicky Henderson stable, winning the 2000 Arkle Trophy and Swordlestown Cup Novice Chase.

Tiutchev was also a dual winner of the Ascot Chase, once for Henderson and once for Pipe, before recording his last win in the 2004 Martell Chase.

Jerry Wright, spokesman for the owners, explained: 'He gave his jockey a great feel on the first circuit last week but when he went past the stables he didn´t want to know, and we´ve decided enough is enough for him.

'He´s been a great servant and will be retired to the family farm of my partner Helen in Northamptonshire, where he will join Triumph Hurdle winner Kissair.'
