Daamberdiplomat recorded a sixth career win and fourth at this venue when showing a good attitude to land the Bar One Casino Handicap at Dundalk.

The Johnny Murtagh-trained gelding had gained all his previous wins over six furlongs but found plenty here at the business end over seven.

The 9/2 shot had virtually all his rivals ahead of him over a furlong out but responded under pressure from Ben Coen to get up in the closing stages.

The 6/4 favourite Tokenomics didn’t help his cause by edging right a furlong out and was beaten a neck in second with Little Empire a further two and a quarter lengths back in third.

Coen said, “He's a talented horse. He can just do a little bit too much in the early part of the races, but he relaxed today and did things right.

"I was following the horse I wanted to be following, so I had one go at him and it worked out. When he relaxes, he gets to the line well.

"I think he is sales bound, so it is nice to get a final win with him."

Part-owner Ciaran Kilkenny added, "He has been a great servant to us. That's his fourth time winning up here. Hopefully that will boost his price going to the sales.

"We have had three horses with Johnny and hopefully we will have more."

The same ownership group have also enjoyed great success this year with Onemoredance who recorded a fifth win this season in the Listed Garnet Stakes at Naas last Sunday.
