It is with great sadness that Douglas Taylor, breeder of Samcro, announces the death of Dun Dun the dam of the dual Grade One winner.

Dun Dun produced seven foals in total with the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle and Deloitte Novice Hurdle winner being her fourth foal.

Samcro, a £335,000 purchase by trainer Gordon Elliott at the Goffs UK Aintree Sale in 2016, was initially raced by Taylor when trained by Colin Bowe.

“Dun Dun has been a grand mare for us and we are sad to see her go,” Taylor said.

"We have one last filly foal out of her a four-year-old daughter of the young sire Jet Away.”

Dun Dun's final live foal, Samcro’s half-sister by Jet Away, is in training with point-to-point handler Cormac Farrell.

Samcro is declared to run in the Grade 1 Matchbook Novice Chase at Limerick on St Stephen's Day for which he has been installed as the odds-on favourite at 4/6.
