Dandy does the business for Thorne Far From Dandy timed things well to land the spoils in the ‘80’ mile handicap at Dundalk for Stephen Thorne. The Far Above gelding was held up in the early stages before being produced to challenge inside the final furlong by Ben Coen. He got on top in the closing stages to post a half-length win over Leopold The First, at odds of 13/2. It was a second career success for Far From Dandy and his first since joining Thorne. Thorne said: "He was (resolute in the finish) and he has threatened to do that. "Hopefully now that will give him plenty of confidence. He's a horse that we have always liked. "We purchased him from Middleham Park after Galway, just thought he would be a lovely horse for the all-weather for the winter. We were lacking a fresh batch, most of my older stock have moved on. He was one of the fresh ones coming in. "He has been showing up nicely in work and I just said if it clicks with him, and everything goes right, there would be a couple of days in him over the winter, I hope. "We'll look for something similar. He will probably be out of the '80' grade, but we will probably look for a '90' grade in December or January. We'll take our time with him, he'll have a couple of runs. "He might be a nice horse for Lingfield (Good Friday), a fast-run mile will suit him well. "They didn't go overly quick there today, so I'm impressed by the way he quickened up from the back of the field. "He's only a young horse by Far Above - a fine, big stamp of a horse so hopefully he will continue to improve and progress. "Ben gave him a lovely ride and he has been lucky for me this year, so hopefully we continue to support him." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
