D´argent On Target For Ayr

Alan King has confirmed that D´Argent, a leading fancy in Saturday´s Gala Casinos Daily Record Scottish Grand National, is likely to make the trip to Ayr for the race.

The grey is around an 8-1 shot for the Grade Three handicap on the back of two decent performances this year, including a second to Baron Windrush in Warwick´s valuable Classic Chase. Last time, in the Midlands National at Uttoxeter, D´Argent looked to have every chance when unseating Robert Thornton three fences from home in a race eventually won by Philson Run.

'The intention is to run,' King told the Racing Post. 'The horse is in good form and would like a bit of cut in the ground. It certainly looked like he would have gone very close at Uttoxeter and that was mine and Choc´s (Thornton) feeling.'

With the presence of Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Take The Stand in the field at Ayr, D´Argent currently sits favourably weighted on 10st 3lb.
