Daring Heart scores for Lyons & Carroll Workmanlike Daring Heart provided an ‘excepcional’ result for his followers today, having landed a gamble (5/4 — 1/2fav) to win Down Royal’s Madri Excepcional Maiden for trainer Ger Lyons and jockey Gary Carroll. Runner-up at Leopardstown on his previous start back in May, jockey Carroll was hard at work on the son of Kodi Bear from two furlongs out in today’s race but the pair eventually quickened away to score by 2.5 lengths from Monmouth . Carroll, substituting for Lyons' stable jockey Colin Keane who was at Wolverhampton, said "he is a grand, straightforward horse and the race went straightforward. The ground is probably as slow as he wants it, he had to work a bit on it but it was nice to get the job done. "He does the bare minimum and I can see a set of headgear being put on him at some stage, so hopefully that will bring out a bit more improvement. He's a fine horse and hopefully there is more in him. "With the way he raced so lazily, and having taken an age to get going, I'd eventually go up in trip, rather than back, but a mile is a nice fit at the minute." Quotes from Michael Graham
