Darkness Set For National Run Darkness is set to tackle Saturday's Gala Casinos Daily Record Scottish Grand National at Ayr rather than take up an alternative novice engagement.The seven-year-old was last seen when finishing a staying-on third behind Star De Mohaison in the Royal & SunAlliance Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.Although trainer Charles Egerton has entered Darkness in the Ashleybank Investments Future Champion Novices' Chase, he is set to step up in trip to four miles and a furlong and take on more experienced rivals.Egerton told the Racing Post: 'He would be my first runner in the Scottish National and at this stage he is more likely to go for that race.'He is in good form and ready for a run. It depends who is available, but I would prefer Tony McCoy or Paddy Brennan to ride him. Good to soft would be perfect.'(C) PA Sport
