Henry de Bromhead secured a Killarney double when Fourth Class put in a good display of jumping to leave his rivals toiling in the two mile one handicap chase.

Ruby Walsh was an eyecatching jockey booking on the eight-year-old gelding who had disappointed in his last two outings after winning a maiden hurdle on 1 March at Thurles. He was supported here on course from 9/2 to 7/2.

The pair made all and were clear after the last to win by 11 lengths from Like The Da (20/1) who beat fellow 20/1 shot Unconditional by four and three parts of a length into third.

“In fairness to Philip Enright he always said he wanted good ground. He was struggling over fences during the winter and ended up with a rating of 106,” Henry de Bromhead said.

“We went back for a maiden hurdle and it looks like he loves that ground. Ruby said he hopped off it.

“I honestly didn’t think we would have a winner down here, but when your luck’s in its in.”

The owners, John Bermingham and Billy Cotter, are from Waterford. Instant Impacked the 9/4 favourite, could make no impact in seventh this evening.
