De Bromhead & O'Keeffe double up in dramatic chase Wexford’s two-miles beginners chase was a dramatic event today, with Sky Lord (6/4jf) defeating a sole finisher by 70 lengths to give jockey Darragh O’Keeffe and trainer Henry De Bromhead doubles in the opening races. Joint-favourite for the six-runner race William Tell missed his target when exiting at the first fence, before Jet Setting Jim fell at halfway. Leader Coul Dreamer jumped badly left throughout and, having surrendered his lead to Sky Lord entering the home straight, was held in third-place when falling at the final fence. Sky Lord had the measure of Killeenmore Lad when that chasing rival fell at the last, with 70 lengths separating the De Bromhead-trained winner from Centreofattention, who inherited the runner-up position. De Bromhead and O’Keeffe had earlier collected with Full Of Life in the opener, with the trainer saying “Sky Lord jumped well and galloped well. He has been frustrating to be honest but hopefully we have him back right again. I’m delighted for him and Basil (Holian, owner in Watchman Racing). “We went over further the last day but I’d say he is just a two-miler and he loved that ground. He has got a gear so Darragh was saving that in today’s race. I presume he won’t move off her handicap mark as he didn’t beat anything so I’d say he will go back handicapping now.”
