de Bromhead's four-year-old chaser beats depleted field A field of 14 was declared for Down Royal’s BetVictor Beginners Chase, over two miles, three furlongs, but only half that number took part after a spate of withdrawals due to drying ground conditions. Wille Mullins took out his only two intended runners of the two-day fixture and Gordon Elliott took out three horses, including morning favourite Ballyfad, with his sole runner Port Authority filling third place behind the comfortable winner Matin Midi Et Soir (1/2 favourite) The latter, completing doubles for Henry De Bromhead, Robcour and Darragh O’Keeffe, was always prominent and led after three out to defeat Zanndabad by five and a half lengths. The Doctor Dino gelding was a Grade 3 winner over hurdles at Auteuil last September. "Delighted, lovely horse,” said De Bromhead "He obviously had done very well in France. He ran okay in Punchestown (in May), we were probably a little bit disappointed with him. "Obviously, we have got to know him a lot more now and he's a horse that we hope can go on to bigger and better things, fingers crossed. "We were happy enough (with the ground) to start him. "Darragh said he was delighted with him, he really liked him and he said he gave him a real good feel." When asked if the Grade 1 Drinmore in Fairyhouse would be on his mind, he replied: "It would certainly be on your mind, but we'll see what everyone wants to do." Additional reporting by Michael Graham
