Declaree dug deep to land the spoils in the featured Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap at Gowran Park this afternoon.

Ben Coen cut out the running on the Johnny Murtagh-trained filly and she found plenty for pressure in the straight.

The Fastnet Rock filly was asked for an effort passing the two pole and stuck on well in the closing stages to hold the charge of Four Blondes by a neck at the line.

Declaree was recording her second career success and had been runner-up here on her seasonal debut in mid-April.

“She loves this track, she ran well here earlier in the year,” said Murtagh.

“She got a bit bumped in Roscommon and it didn’t really help her. She’s a big filly.

“I thought at halfway Ben had a nice position and he said she really wanted it today. When they came to her she dug deep.

“She’s paying her way, she’s a lovely filly. I’d say, she’s got a bit of size, so hopefully they’ll bring her back to the shed and she could be a nice broodmare at the end of the year.

“We’ll probably try to get a bit of black-type later in the year but she has a bit to go yet.”
