Deja Vu as Il Silenzio double up for Brassil and Doyle In an almost identical ride to that which brought similar success just over half-an-hour earlier, Ricky Doyle produced the Martin Brassil trained Il Silenzio from off the pace to win the Paul Byron Shoes Handicap Chase at Roscommon. Held up in mid-division. Doyle crept close on the 11/1 chance after jumping four out, as Hit The Frame blazed a trail out in front. Moving through on the stands side to go second after jumping the penultimate fence, Il Silenzio headed the long time leader between the last two fences. Easing clear on the run-in, the eight-year-old won by two-and-three-quarter lengths. “That was great. He’s a similar sort of horse to the other fella,” said Brassil. “He had his first run over fences here off his hurdle mark and we were delighted with the run but then he just didn’t back it up in Tipperary. “I think the ground was slower there and it just didn’t happen for him, and he actually pulled up. “We said we’d come back to where he ran well. He enjoyed it around here and loves the nice ground as well.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson.
