Having shown little in four previous starts, the Shane Crawley trained Del Boys Diva took a significant step forward when making virtually all to win the Sheehy Meares/Team Earley Handicap Hurdle at Roscommon.

Sent off 18/1, the Patrick G McKeon owned mare was soon in front under Sean O'Keeffe. Travelling well at the head of affairs, the six-year-old had still to be asked for maximum effort jumping two out.

Asserting between the final two flights, the daughter of Court Cave stayed on strongly to win by seven-lengths.

“I’m delighted to win that, she did it well,” said Crawley.

“Paddy McKeon has been a great supporter of mine from the word go and it’s great to reward him with a winner there.

“I think this nicer ground helped. The last day was her first run in a handicap. She ran during the winter, then we gave her a break, and she probably needed the run the last day. The tongue-tie helped as well.

“Her mother was very good, she was actually my first winner. It’s great that she threw one today.”
