Frankie Dettori is set to ride Cavalryman for Godolphin in the Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington on November 6th.

Dettori has yet to win 'the race that stops a nation', though he did finish second on Central Park in 1999.

Cavalryman has been in good form this year, winning Listed races at Sandown and York.

He put up a creditable performance at Newmarket on Thursday when second to Caucus in the two-mile Jockey Club Rose Bowl.

Lost In The Moment, who was just behind in third place, is also on course for the Australia showpiece, with Kerrin McEvoy her likely pilot.

"Cavalryman is going to have 8st 7lb (54kg), so Frankie will be going to ride him," said his agent Ray Cochrane.

"The weights won't be going up because Americain has got 58kg, so he won't be doing 53kg for Lost In The Moment.

"Frankie will be on Cavalryman at the minute, I would imagine.

"He ran a cracking race on Thursday and the track down there would suit him."

Cochrane also revealed that Mickael Barzalona will be on Brigantin for Andre Fabre.

It will be a first Melbourne Cup ride for the 21-year-old, who has already chalked up victories in the Investec Derby, the Dubai World Cup and the Ladbrokes St Leger.

"Mickael is going to ride Brigantin and first he runs in the Caulfield Cup on October 20th," said Cochrane.

"Mickael will go down there to ride him in his prep race for the Melbourne Cup.

"It looks a good spot for him. He's thrown-in (at the weights) off 8st 5lb (53kg)."
