Devin eyes good prize with Hunaina Ex-Irish filly Hunaina is an interesting challenger for the Betfred 'Home Of Goals Galore' Snowdrop Fillies' Stakes at Kempton on Saturday. Now with French trainer Henri-Francois Devin, the daughter of Tamayuz, who was formerly with Mick Halford, was a close third on her French debut at Deauville early in the new year and went two places better at Chantilly last month. Devin said: "She has just run twice for us and has run very well both times. I hope she'll run another good race on Saturday. "Sir Michael Stoute's (Smart Call) horse looks the one to beat but she is drawn on the outside." Devin is of Irish descent, with his mother Antonia a former native of Co Kildare. His father Henri is the latest member of the family to run the historic Haras du Mesnil stud near Le Mans. Still in his mid-30s, Devin assisted Andre Fabre for two years before going it alone in 2013 and has since saddled several Group-race winners, while Al Johrah finished second behind Lady Aurelia in the 2016 Queen Mary at Ascot. He added: "I haven't had many runners in England, so it would be great to have a winner. "I had a good grounding but you're only as good as your last winner. "I am very lucky to have had some very good owners and some very good horses." Smart Call was a multiple Group One winner in her native South Africa, and the six-year-old joined Stoute prior to the start of last season, acquitting herself well in the Middleton Stakes at York, the Duke of Cambridge at Royal Ascot and the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville. She has not been seen in competitive action since finishing seventh behind Highland Reel in the Hong Kong Vase in December, but this Listed contest represents a significant drop in class and she is clear of each of her rivals on official ratings. The Charlie Fellowes-trained Carolinae and Lucymai from Dean Ivory's yard are back in action just eight days after finishing second and third respectively in the All-Weather Fillies' And Mares' Championships on Good Friday at Lingfield. Ivory said: "She ran very well last week and has come out of it really well. If she could finish third or fourth I'd be delighted."
