Diakali aims to put Galway run behind him Diakali is set to return to Tipperary on Sunday in a bid to regain winning ways in the Istabraq Hurdle. The Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old returned from over a year off with a spectacular display at the track in the Grimes Hurdle in July, but was bitterly disappointing when favourite for the Galway Hurdle later in the month. The dual Grade One winner could face up to nine rivals, including stable companion Thousand Stars, who would also be on a recovery mission after failing to fire in the equivalent of the Italian Champion Hurdle at Medrano on Saturday. Tony Martin is also double-handed with talented dual-purpose performers Thomas Edison and Ted Veale in the mix. Thomas Edison appeared a major threat when tipping up at the final flight in the Galway Hurdle, eventually won by stable companion Quick Jack. Galway Hurdle third Ted Veale was last seen winning on the Flat at Listowel. Aidan O'Brien's Plinth is also among the 10 entries. On a potentially excellent card, Bachasson could look to make it four from four for the Mullins yard in the Grade Three Dolores Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle. Grade Three honours are also up for grabs in the Like A Butterfly Novice Chase, for which Rule The World, The Game Changer and Viconte Du Noyer are notable contenders.
