Diamond confirmed for Leger defence Owner Andrew Tinkler confirmed last night that Royal Diamond will line up in the Gain Irish St Leger at the Curragh on Sunday. The Johnny Murtagh-trained seven-year-old clinched Group One glory at the Curragh 12 months ago and now returns to defend his crown. Connections had been mulling over the possibility of going for the Caulfield Cup on October 16th which would have meant missing the Irish Leger due to quarantine restrictions. Tinkler revealed on twitter last night, however, that the Curragh was the target:- "Royal Diamond to take his chance to try and win back to back GAIN Irish St Ledger on Sunday."
