Dirar finished a fine second on his US debut in the New York Writers Club Chase at Saratoga this evening.

Gordon Elliott's charge, ridden by Barry Geraghty, led the field into the straight in the Grade One contest but couldn't hold the late surge of Mabou.

The other Irish runner in the $100,000 contest, the Tom Foley-trained Decoy Daddy, failed to complete under Ross Geraghty.

Dirar is set to run in a few American races over the next couple of months as he warms up for the American Grand National at Far Hills in October.
