Paul Nolan is eyeing the Grade 3 Woodlands Park 100 Club Novice Chase at Naas on January 27 with his Cheltenham festival runner-up Discorama, following the gelding's slightly below par run in the Drinmore Chase in December.

Nolan's six year old gelding filled runner-up spot to Blow By Blow in last March's Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Hurdle and while he made a winning chase debut at Naas in November, filled fifth spot in the subsequent Grade 1 Drinmore Chase at Fairyhouse.

Nolan says “you'd know Discorama had a race after his Drinmore run at Fairyhouse as he was moving tight in himself afterwards and had a little spell off. The race at Limerick over Christmas was too short for him and the ground at Leopardstown was too good so we are now aiming him for the Grade 3 Woodlands Park 100 Club Novice Chase at Naas at the end of the month.

“In fairness at Fairyhouse, he didn't run as bad as it looked as Bryan (Cooper, jockey) accepted defeat quite early and was sympathetic on him, which I was delighted about. His jumping was a bit sticky and he also was running over an inadequate trip on not ideal ground. Relatively speaking at that level, he lacks a little experience as he never point-to-pointed so I'm not as disappointed now.”
