Divin opens chase account in style Koktail Divin produced a fine display of jumping from the front when taking the Ballymaloe Relish Beginners Chase at Leopardstown. The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding had been runner-up on two previous outings over fences, behind Romeo Coolio and Oscars Brother. He went to post an 11/4 shot today and bossed the race under Darragh O’Keeffe. The Masked Marvel gelding put the race to bed before the last to record a convincing 21-length success over 2/1 favourite Kiss Will. “He was really good and we’re delighted with that. He jumped brilliant, and Darragh was brilliant on him, and he picked up really well,” said de Bromhead. “He ran really well at Punchestown, but we just thought that really testing ground didn’t help him over the three miles. “You’d be hopeful he’d be fine over three miles on nicer ground. I’d say he was beaten by a good horse as well, in fairness. “He’s had three runs, so we’ll see what we want to do now. Obviously, the lads would love to go to Cheltenham so I’d imagine we’ll go there, and then it’s a matter of whether we’d have a run in between. “The Dublin Racing Festival is a big meeting as well, so we’ll see what everyone wants to do. “That was nice ground, and he definitely seemed to relish it and jumped really quick off it as well, his jumping was spectacular. “It’s exciting, he’s still young as he’s only five.”
