Donnacha O’Brien reflects on Classic contender Trainer Donnacha O’Brien sends out his first Classic runner with Fancy Blue in the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh and the rookie trainer reflected on the filly’s prospects. Last year’s Champion Flat Jockey states “she’s in good form and all things look good at the minute. She has gotten strong as grown a bit so has developed well from two to three. We’re very happy with how things have gone and are looking forward to the weekend. She is adaptable ground wise, I wouldn’t mind a bit of juice in the ground as she bends her knee plenty and she won on slow ground last year; I’m not too concerned either way. On pedigree ten on twelve furlongs should suit so we are treating the Guineas as a prep run for the Oaks and she’ll improve plenty for it. That’s the long term plan but we’ll see what happens at the weekend first.”
