Ian Donoghue is eyeing a potential tilt at the Cheltenham October meeting with West Away, who returned to something like his best form when runner-up over fences at Wexford recently.

A dual winner over hurdles for John McConnell, the gelding had rather lost his way of late. However, having stepped up on his first two starts for Donoghue, when taking minor honours in his third outing for the stable, Cheltenham could be an option.

"He was unlucky to get nailed late on, maybe the mistake at the last cost him," said Donoghue.

"He'll be a nice horse for the winter, he'll have a mark after that.

"We will probably go to Cheltenham in October for that novice handicap chase, the two and a-half mile one."
