Donoghue speaks of Tiger Roll bond The legendary Tiger Roll, winner of the Aintree Grand National for the past two seasons and a four-time winner at the Cheltenham festival, will make his seasonal comeback in this Sunday’s Ladbrokes Boyne Hurdle at Navan. Tiger Roll won the Boyne Hurdle last year under jockey Keith Donoghue who says he has been a very special part of his career and he says the 10-year-old legend is incredibly popular all around the world. “I probably have that bond with him. I’m the one that rides him out every day, the one that does all the work with him,” said Donoghue. “To get me winners in Cheltenham means that I’ll remember him forever. He’s been very good for a lot of people, including Davy Russell, and Lisa O’Neill as well. “I was over in America during the summer with Ross Geraghty and like every person that we met that was in to horses were just — ‘you rode Tiger Roll?’ They’re literally amazed by him over there as well. “It just shows that he is worldwide. “Anybody that comes into the yard here — they’re not coming to see Delta Work or Apple’s Jade or any of these, and these have all won Grade Ones. They’re coming to see Tiger Roll. “He’s in the first box here but he loves the attention too. He likes people coming to see him.”
