Double keeps Darley in title fight Champion jockey Kevin Darley was in double form at Newmarket on Sunday to show that he is not going to give up his title without a fight. He moved on to the 84-winner mark in the championship with wins on Grizedale and Albuhera. The Ed Dunlop-trained Grizedale easily landed odds of 4-11 in the Ballygallon Median Auction Maiden Stakes, scoring by three lengths on going officially described as good to firm, firm in places. Grizedale was making amends for being disqualified on his debut. Dunlop said: 'He did it nicely enough today. The ground wasn`t really to his liking - a big, heavy horse like him.' The colt will now be rested before being brought back for an autumn campaign. Dunlop added: 'We`ll put him away now. He holds an entry in the Redcar race (betabet.com Two-Year-Old Trophy) so we`ll be looking at that. 'I`m delighted for the owners (Queensberry Thoroughbreds) it`s their first winner.' Tom Goff, representing the owners, confirmed the Redcar contest would be on Grizedale`s agenda. Darley quickly completed his near 17-1 double on Mark Johnston`s Albuhera in the following Sainsbury`s Rated Stakes. The winner was gelded after running unplaced in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot and the operation has certainly done the trick as the 12-1 chance quickened a length and a half clear of Scheming in the closing stages. However, Darley finished the day 10 adrift of title race leader Kieren Fallon, who steered John Jenkins` Final Settlement to victory in the concluding Conference And Banqueting At Newmarket Handicap. Henry Cecil may be having a disappointing season by his own high standards but the Warren Place trainer has plenty to look forward with his promising colt Continuously. The son of Diesis confirmed the favourable impression he created on his debut with a game success in the opening European Breeders Fund Maiden Stakes. Cecil`s juvenile was sent off the 4-7 favourite for the seven-furlong contest on the strength of his second to Bragadino at Sandown earlier this month. But after the start was delayed by the antics of Mister John and Day Trader (withdrawn), who both gave trouble in the stalls, Continuously gave his supporters a scare as Richard Quinn had to work hard on him before getting the better of Prince Cyrano by one and three-quarter lengths. Explaining Continuously`s rather workmanlike display Cecil said: 'He was in the stalls a long time and he`s still a baby.' Cecil has no immediate plans for Continuously and he added: 'He was very green first time but he`ll be all right once he gets a bit stronger.' Continuously was Cecil`s 27th winner of the campaign.
