Double Rush out to double up at Newmarket Connections of Double Rush are keen to see what they have got on their hands as he makes a quick return to Newmarket for the Betfred Handicap on Saturday. The Andrew Balding-trained Blue Point colt was an impressive four and three quarter length winner of a valuable handicap at HQ earlier this month and will race under a 5lb penalty for that win at the weekend. He was raised 13lb by the handicapper and will be 8lb well-in, with owners Forz Europe Ltd hopeful the four-year-old can step up in Group company in the future. Paul Curran, racing manager for the owners said: “He’s in on Saturday with a penalty but he’s come around quick enough so we’re happy to run him. Andrew likes him a lot so he’s going to go back there, it was a starting point back for his win two weeks ago so a nice place to go. “We like him a lot and we think a lot of him and it’s a testing place for him again. He’s won there twice already so it’ll be a good test to see how good he is with that penalty. Andrew is quite happy with him and it’s a nice place to start again before we’ll hopefully look for something better for him over the summer. “We’ll get through this race first and then we’ll take a look. We’ll see how he comes out of the race and we’ll chat to Andrew. We won’t make any plans but we’d like to think that he’s a Group horse in time and he’s done everything right so far and we’ll weigh it all up with Andrew and we’ll make a plan.”
