The Gordon Elliott-trained Down Around (7/2) was an all-the-way winner of the Burleigh Accountancy Handicap Hurdle for jockey Sam Ewing.

The nine-year-old son of Sea Moon was seventh on his first start for Gordon Elliott, but enjoyed being prominently ridden in this contest over three miles and two furlongs, and was all out to win by half a length versus the onrushing Killowen House

Speaking after the race, rider Sam Ewing said: "The plan was to sit mid-division and creep away, but when the flag dropped, no-one wanted to go on. I got it handy for the first two circuits and he only needed to race from the back of the third-last. He jumped super.

"He ran well for a long way on his first run for Gordon at Kilbeggan, and we thought he had come on quite a bit.

"He loves jumping, so he might do okay over fences as well.

"Things are going well. I had a good May before the break, and had a good start to July. I'm getting plenty of support."
