Aidan Howard will keep a close eye on ground conditions as he looks towards the baroneracing.com Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse with Winter Escape.

The seven-year-old has won two of his three starts since switching from the care of Alan King, most recently securing a six-length success in a Cork Grade Three.

Howard is now hoping to raise his sights to Grade One level on December 2nd, but he would not want deep ground for his stable star.

He said: "Winter Escape is entered for the Drinmore, but if the ground turns very soft he could wait for Leopardstown at Christmas. Nothing has been confirmed, but he came home very well from Cork.

"A little cut in the ground is fine, but he wouldn’t want it heavy — although it's still good ground this weekend, which is amazing for the time of the year."
