Dunboyne could still go for the Derby

Dunboyne Express could still run in the Investec Derby despite disappointing in the Irish 2000 Guineas.

Trainer Kevin Prendergast blamed the fast ground for his below-par run at the Curragh and hasn't ruled out running at Epsom.

He was supplemented into the Derby at a cost of £8,000 at the second entry stage.

"He's come out of the race well but the ground was very, very fast," said the County Kildare handler.

"We just feel that he didn't let himself down on the ground and stride out like he can. The rain came too late for him.

"He ran all right - he didn't win, but he didn't disgrace himself.

"I don't know about the Derby. I'll see how is is over the next four or five days and then we'll decide what's happening."
