Racing this evening at Dundalk has been cancelled after high winds caused structural damage to the stand.

An inspection took place at 4.30pm after which the course executive, in conjunction with the stewards, felt it would be unsafe to race at the Co. Louth venue.

Metal sheeting became loose high up on the stand and, due to the very high winds, remedial work could not take place this evening.

Dundalk Stadium manager Jim Martin said, "The high winds have caused some sheeting to get loose on the stand.

"It is flapping away in the wind and could fall at any time, so we have no option but to call the meeting off. Due to the extreme conditions we are unable to fix it this evening."
