The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board has announced this evening that following consultation with Met Éireann and in light of the Weather Warning in place, the fixture scheduled to take place at Dundalk tomorrow evening has been cancelled in the interests of the safety of all participants and patrons.

This fixture will be rescheduled for Monday 21st February (evening) with fresh declarations to be made on Saturday morning 19th February.

IHRB Clerk of the Course, Brendan Sheridan said: “We discussed the situation with Jim Martin of Dundalk Racecourse and Met Éireann this morning and again this afternoon and we felt with the current forecast for tomorrow it was prudent to make an early decision and cancel the fixture. Many parts of the country are subject to Orange and Red Weather Warning’s in the morning which would make travel unsafe and Met Éireann are also forecasting gusts with speeds in excess of 80km/h during race time.”

Furthermore, due to the current weather forecast, there will be an 8am precautionary inspection at Oldtown on Saturday 19th February, ahead of the Ward Union (S) Point to Point fixture scheduled to take place on that day. The track is currently raceable and the ground is heavy.
