Impressive Newmarket scorer Earth Shot will put her Betfred Oaks credentials to the test in Goodwood’s Height Of Fashion Stakes.

William Haggas’ daughter of Time Test was an encouraging second behind well-regarded stablemate My Ophelia on her debut in the autumn and proved a cut above when romping to a five-length success on her return to action.

A 16-1 chance for the Oaks, she will step up to Listed level on the Sussex Downs at the weekend and while there would only be a two-week turnaround to Epsom, a positive showing could see her line up for Classic action on June 5.

“She’s going to Goodwood for the mile-and-a-quarter Listed race and then we’ll make a plan out of that,” said Haggas.

“I would prefer to give her the extra week gap now rather than have run at Newbury on Saturday and give her that extra week between races one and two than between two and three.

“So if she is good enough and seems well (after Goodwood) then the Oaks would still be in our minds. Obviously we have Ascot (Ribblesdale Stakes) and she’s in the Irish Oaks as well and we don’t even know if she will stay a mile and a half yet, but it will all figure itself out over the coming weeks.”
