Excelebration romped home in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Sponsored by QIPCO at Ascot to make it four out of four for Ireland.

Aidan O'Brien's 10/11 favourite travelled supremely well for jockey Joseph O'Brien, and after weaving a gap through runners, he then stormed clear of Cityscape with a furlong to run.

After that his jockey could afford to ease him down for the most facile of victories.

Roger Charlton's Cityscape ran a brave race in second place and in turn was well clear of a bunch finish for third, with that position going to the front-running Elusive Kate just ahead of Carlton House and Sovereign Debt.

The victory was a fine pre-cursor to the run of Frankel in the following race, the Champion Stakes, given that the son of Exceed And Excel had so often chased home Sir Henry Cecil's star over the past two seasons including in this race 12 months ago.

The winning trainer said: "We are delighted. He's been working brilliant. He's got an awful lot of speed and class, and Joseph was confident.

"The lads did a great job with him at home.

"We rode him different that day (behind Frankel in the Queen Anne). We probably learnt a lot and he's progressing.

"If he's OK and everybody is happy we'll go to the Breeders' Cup."
