Eight left in Betfair Chase

Just eight horses remain in contention for Saturday's Grade One Betfair Chase at Haydock.

The first Grade One event of the season had attracted 19 entries at the initial stage, including Friday's impressive novice chase winner Grands Crus.

David Pipe hadn't ruled his talented grey out of the weekend highlight following that success but he has not been confirmed at the latest stage.

However, the majority of the big names have stood their ground with Long Run and Kauto Star still on track to renew rivalry whilst one of last season's leading novices, Time For Rupert, could attempt to improve on his promising return in the Charlie Hall Chase last month.

Diamond Harry was forced to miss the Wetherby contest after a late injury scare but could now make his seasonal return at Haydock where the Charlie Hall winner, Weird Al, may also be in the line-up.

The entries are completed by Nacarat, Pure Faith and Robert Hennessy's promising Rubi Light.
