Elliott and Kennedy take Fairyhouse opener with Dunsy Rock Dunsy Rock stayed on stoutly to claim the Treo Eile Supporting Mares Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy. The experienced Likealightswitch set out to make the running with Dunsy Rock racing predominantly in fourth. Poet's Word mare Dunsy Rock was pushed along by Kennedy in third on the run to the penultimate flight as the leader asserted and jumped it clear. Kennedy's mount landed second and set about trying to reel Likelightswitch in. It soon became evident that the leader was tiring as Dunsy Rock whittled the gap away to close at the last. Dunsy Rock was strong in the closing stages as she took over from Likelightswitch who had little more to give. Dunsy Rock won going away by six lengths from the well-backed 11/4 runner-up, while Alliteration was another six and a-half lengths back in third at 10/3. This built upon a promising fourth on debut at Down Royal by Dunsy Rock. “She was very honest, jumped great and handled the ground well. She was good,” said Kennedy. “On better ground she could probably go up in trip but, on that sort of ground, two miles is okay for her.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
