Elliott urges caution over Tiger Roll's fitness at Navan Tiger Roll is set for the same route as last year, however, Gordon Elliott has urged caution over his fitness when he returns from a setback in the Ladbrokes Ireland Boyne Hurdle at Navan. The 10-year-old-gelding, who is gunning for his third successive Randox Health Grand National, landed last year's Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle at 25/1 on his way to glory in the Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham and the Aintree showpiece. He had surgery to remove a chip in a joint in November. Elliott said: “Tiger Roll is in great form and did his first bit of work on Saturday morning. He’s one hundred per cent. “The plan is to go for the Boyne Hurdle in Navan (on Sunday 16th February). “He’s not going to be as fit as he was last year. There will be a lot of improvement in him and it will be a stepping stone to the Cross Country at Cheltenham.” Gigginstown's Tiger Roll will create history if he becomes the first horse to land three successive Grand Nationals. Red Rum won three Grand Nationals in 1973, 1974 and then in 1977. He was also runner-up in the intervening years of 1975 and 1976.
