A good jump at the last allowed Finegan to extend his mount, which to all his credit battled hard to come out on top by half a length, with the (5/2 )favourite Only For Our Man finishing in behind. The Anthony McCann-trained Silent Guardian still had a huge part to play before a fall at the second last. Speaking after the race, jockey Eoghan Finegan said: "He had been disappointing up until now but they went a good gallop today and the step up in trip also helped him. "He is a big awkward horse so will come on when he fills out over the years and will be a nice horse going chasing.
