Energy set for Amethyst return The Sheila Lavery-trained New Energy is set to make his seasonal debut in the Group 3 Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown on May 7th. The New Bay colt finished runner-up in last season's Irish 2,000 Guineas and was also second in the Group 2 Cazoo Park Stakes at Doncaster. A reappearance at Leopardstown earlier this month had to be put on hold due to a temperature but the four-year-old is reported in fine form ahead of his comeback run. Lavery told Racing TV:- “He's been very good. I was very pleased with him and he was ready for the mile listed race at Leopardstown (Heritage Stakes) but he spiked a really high temperature so got a complete week off. “If the ground hadn't been so bad I might have run him in the Gladness but I had literally given him a full week off. “Hopefully he'll run on the 7th now, touch wood nothing goes wrong. He's in great form so fingers crossed.”
