English apprentice faces long ban English apprentice James Rogers faces a British Horseracing Authority hearing after testing positive for alcohol and being charged with attempting to switch his urine sample with someone else's. The incident took place before his booked ride at Nottingham on October 3rd last year. A date has yet to be fixed for the hearing at which Rogers could face a lengthy ban if found guilty. A suspension from 28 to 60 days is the punishment range for taking a banned substance. However, the refusal or failure to provide a urine sample could result in a ban of between six and nine months, while if he is found guilty of engaging in conduct prejudicial to the integrity, proper conduct or good reputation of racing, the recommended penalties range from a suspension of between one month and three years, or a fine of between £1,000 and £15,000.
