English meetings hit hard by weather The weather continues to hit English meetings hard with Haydock the latest track forced to abandon their meeting today. Parts of the track are still frozen and it's a similar situation at Musselburgh, who have already abandoned their New Year's Day fixture. Thursday's meeting at Uttoxeter has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track while prospects look bleak for Catterick's New Year's Day fixture. The course is subject to an 8am inspection on Thursday with almost an inch of snow laying on the North Yorkshire track. Cheltenham have taken the decision to deploy frost covers over the entire track ahead of their meeting on New Year's Day. Prospects of racing at Ayr on Saturday also look bleak as the track has been frozen for over two weeks. Officials have called a 1pm inspection for Wednesday and unless there is a significant improvement in the forecast, an early decision looks likely.
