Enright goes shortest way around on Cool Summer Under a ground-saving ride by Phillip Enright, Cool Summer (7/2) recorded her first win when landing the Visitwexford.ie Handicap Hurdle. Runner-up on her previous two starts, the Wings Of Eagles mare came from well back in the field and was produced to lead after the last to beat Ballinearla Girl by two and three-quarter lengths. Martin Ferris, partner of, and assistant to, winning trainer Miss Hilary McLoughlin, said “She had nice bumper runs and ran well in a maiden hurdle in Roscommon, but she didn’t go on the ground after that. “She got a nice mark and we brought her back for nice ground. “She had a lovely run in Roscommon. The owner Tim Kelly is from Ballinrobe and she was unlucky not to win there a few weeks ago, Sean Flanagan gave her a lovely ride but it just didn’t go for him on the day. “Today it worked out great. The owner is away on business so he’s not here. “It was a job well done today and I’m delighted to get her head in front. “We’ll see what the handicapper does and look for something similar again. “If the ground changes, she’ll be put away until next season as she wants good ground.
