Sir Michael Stoute is targeting the Lonsdale Cup at York for his Gold Cup heroine Estimate.

The four-year-old filly provided the Queen with a memorable victory in Royal Ascot's two-and-a-half-mile feature in June, prompting scenes of jubilation as she returned to the famous winner's enclosure.

Some had suggested Estimate may not run again until the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot in October, but Stoute is keen to get her out before then, with a trip to the Knavesmire on August 23 favoured over the Irish St Leger at the Curragh on September 15.

"That's too long (before Champions Day). She needs to get busy before then," the trainer told At The Races.

"We've got her back into strong work and we're planning to run her in the Lonsdale at York. She's also in the Irish St Leger. They are the two possibilities, but I think we'll aim her for the Lonsdale."
