Evans Handed Twiston-Davies Role Antony Evans will take over as stable jockey to Nigel Twiston-Davies when Carl Llewellyn departs the post next month.Llewellyn is due to succeed Mark Pitman as trainer at Weathercock House in Lambourn after the Grand National meeting and he is scaling back his riding commitments as a result. That leaves Evans, who has been based with Twiston-Davies for a number of years, to take over as number one at the Naunton yard.Twiston-Davies said: 'Tony Evans will take over. Why not? He's been riding plenty of winners.'The 27-year-old rider was initially attached to David Nicholson's yard and enjoyed his best ever season in the 2003/4 jumps campaign when he partnered 23 winners.Evans has won 12 races so far this season.Although Pitman will no longer be the trainer, he will not sever links entirely with Weathercock House.'Carl and I will more or less be reversing our current roles,' he told the Racing Post.'As I explained when he joined our team last summer, I have family commitments in Spain which means I can't always be on call at Weathercock House.'I've subsequently split my time between Spain and Lambourn, and that will continue to be my plan. I'm delighted I'll still have an involvement.'Llewellyn, who rode his first winner 20 years ago said: 'I've thoroughly enjoyed the fresh challenge of training, and that now will be my number one priority over riding.'?
