Aidan O'Brien could have a select squad of high-class contenders, led by Excelebration, at Ascot for Qipco British Champions Day next weekend.

The four-year-old Excelebration was second to long-time nemesis Frankel in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes last season but stepped out of the shadow of Sir Henry Cecil's superstar when winning the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville last time out.

Speaking at the Curragh, O'Brien said Excelebration would head for the QEII again, with Declaration Of War a possible to take on Frankel in the Champion Stakes.

O'Brien said of Excelebration: "We've been very happy with him. He had a busy enough campaign, but he's well."

Oaks heroine Was (Fillies' And Mares'), former Gold Cup winner Fame And Glory (Long Distance Cup) are likely starters, with Starspangledbanner a possible for the Sprint.
