Extortionist takes Sandown Group 3 Ryan Moore delivered progressive young sprinter Extortionist with a telling run to capture the Group Three Coral Charge at Sandown Park. Winner of a Newmarket handicap last month and subsequently just touched off in a Group Three event at the Curragh, the three-year-old was sent off a 13-2 chance and sat in midfield as H ay Chewed blitzed away down the stands rail. As the pack closed in the veteran Kingsgate Native played his hand, but Moore had the move well covered and last year's Windsor Castle Stakes winner produced a splendid turn of foot to finish a length and a quarter in front. Trainer Olly Stevens said: "He's won twice and finished second once in the space of a fortnight. I thought this was a tough ask, but he seems to be getting better with racing. "I won't make any rash decisions and he needs quick ground, but we were thinking of Goodwood next (King George Stakes)." Moore was completing a double after the commanding victory of Sir Michael Stoute's Royal Seal. With a Yarmouth maiden win from just four previous runs, the Cheveley Park Stud-bred filly (13-2) looked open to plenty more improvement as she quickened two lengths clear of the staying-on Mutawathea in the Gary Tuck Memorial Handicap. The trainer said: "She's a progressive filly, but she has taken time to get it together. She's in a very valuable race over six furlongs at Newmarket next Friday (Betfred Mobile Heritage Handicap). We'll see how she comes out of this, but she could well go."
