A Law Of Her Own (15/2) had no trouble defying top-weight in the Callaghan Aluminium Supporting Meath Hunt Mares Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown.

Sam Ewing settled her behind the leaders and got a nice run through on the inner after the second-last to hit the front entering the straight. The eight-year-old soon settled matters and went away to beat Spick And Span by seven lengths.

Trainer Peter Fahey said of the Willie Ward-owned winner: “She’s been a little bit unlucky I suppose. She was running a great race in Galway and kicked on clear going into the dip, but the ground was plenty soft that day. She’s after slipping down to a nice mark.

“She’ll go to the breeding stock sale at the end of the year. She’s a black type filly and hopefully they will get a few quid for her.

“Two miles suits her better than two and a half, but she wants better ground more than anything.”
