Fairyhouse ready for big weekend

Fairyhouse are getting ready for their two-day weekend fixture, featuring three Grade One contests on Sunday sponsored by Bar One Racing.

Acting racecourse manager Peter Roe is not anticipating any problems with cold weather at this stage.

"At the moment the weather is good and I don't see any issues forecast," he said.

"We're going to see a drop in temperatures, but nothing severe at this stage.

"On Friday we might get down to minus one and maybe something similar on Saturday night as well, but I don't think we are going to have a number of days of severe frost.

"We had nine millimetres of rain overnight on Sunday and we're calling the ground soft. It's winter soft now."

Roe is looking forward to Sunday's meeting in particular.

"Sunday is an absolute cracking card. Noel Meade runs Thegreatjohnbrowne and Realt Dubh taking on other good horses in the Drinmore Novice Chase.

"The Hatton's Grace should be a cracker with the first three in the Morgiana - Solwhit, Voler La Vedette and Donnas Palm - and Shinrock Paddy looks like he will probably be running too."
